Nas seções amostradas, foram descobertas seis salamandras, datadas de 164 milhões de anos. Os pesquisadores afirmam que isso representa um dos primeiros eventos de diversificação de Caudata, um grupo de anfíbios. Dinossauros com asas de membrana foram encontrados em rochas sedimentares que datam de 164 a 160 milhões de anos, o que coincide com estudos anteriores sobre o desenvolvimento do vôo em dinossauros terópodes, dos quais os scansoriopterygids encontrados aqui são os primeiros voadores planadores. Euharamiyidans, alguns dos primeiros ancestrais dos mamíferos , foram datados em unidades de 163 a 158 milhões de anos.
Esta informação foi usada em uma técnica conhecida como filogenia com data de ponta Bayesiana para restringir a data de origem de verdadeiros mamíferos anteriores a esses ancestrais mamíferos primitivos. O software foi usado para criar o que é essencialmente uma "árvore genealógica" complexa, na qual aqueles com características semelhantes são encontrados mais próximos e os padrões evolutivos podem ser vistos.
Os pesquisadores identificaram a raiz da evolução dos mamíferos no final do Triássico (208 milhões de anos atrás), gerando diversificação no Jurássico. Isso é conhecido como modelo de fusível longo e tem sido objeto de debate, pois alguns pesquisadores defendem o modelo explosivo, no qual os primeiros mamíferos se originaram no Jurássico Médio antes de se diversificarem rapidamente. Embora os pesquisadores apoiem o modelo de pavio longo, eles enfatizam que houve um atraso na diversificação até o Jurássico Médio, então provavelmente há mais linhagens fantasmas de hipotéticos ancestrais de mamíferos a serem encontrados enquanto os pesquisadores continuam a explorar as maravilhas da vida na Terra em o passado profundo.
